The Holy City (거룩한 성) Sung By Mahalia Jackson (1st Act) Last night I lay a-sleeping There came a dream so fair, I stood in old Jerusalem Beside the temple there. I heard the children singing, And ever as they sang, Me thought the voice of angels From heaven in answer rang. Jerusalem! Jerusalem! Lift up your gates and sing, Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna to your King! (2nd Act) And then me thought my dream was changed, The streets no longer rang, Hushed were the glad Hosannas The little children sang. The sun grew dark with mystery, The morn was cold and chill, As the shadow of a cross arose Upon a lonely hill. Jerusalem! Jerusalem! Hark! How the angels sing, Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna to your King! (3rd Act) And once again the scene was changed; New earth there seemed to be; I saw the Holy City Beside the tideless sea; The light of God was on its streets, The gates were open wide, And all who would might enter, And no one　 was denied. No need of moon or stars by night, Or sun to shine by day; It was the new Jerusalem That would not pass away. Jerusalem! Jerusalem! Sing for the night is o'er! Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna for evermore!

The Holy City (거룩한 성) & Mahalia Jackson 거룩한 성은 꿈을 꾸고난후 회상하는것으로 내용은 세 파트의 예루살램이등장한다 첫번의 예루살렘은 예수가 사역하던 당시의 상황이다 많은 아이들이 예수의 주위에서 찬양하는데 그묘하고 청아한소리가 천사의 화답과 같다 둘쩨부분은 어두어진거리에 참담한 광경이벌어진다 예수님께서 돌아가신다..아! 예루살램 예루살램 슬픈 성이다 세쩨부분은 모든 시간은 다지나가고 유리바다가 보이고 낮과 밤이 없는 영광스러운 곳이다 그곳은 영원히 그분이 빛이되여 비추이는 천상의 예루살램 이곡의 가사는 어떤 거리들를 시각적을으로 묘사하지만 그폭이 커서 영적인 상상력을 무한이 준다 그러면서 해피엔딩으로 끝나 밝고 환한소망을 안겨준다 No need of moon or stars by night, Or sun to shine by day It was the new Jerusalem 마할리아 잭슨 (Mahalia Jackson) 1911년 10월 26일 (미국) - 1972년 1월 27일 수상 : 1976년 제19회 그래미 어워드 최우수 소울 가스펠상   - hongssari -
