병원영어의 기초상식 |
|
★ have는 eat나 drink를 대신해서 잘쓴다.
그러나 “약을 먹다,혹은 복용하다”는 take 를 쓴다.
Take these pills after meal (식사후에 이 알약들을 복용 하세요.)
★ “~가 아프다” 고 말할때는 have 를 주로 쓴다.
I have pain in my shoulder. (어깨가 아파요)
I have chills. (오한이 나요)
★ "~가 아프세요?"라고 물어볼 때도 have를 주로 쓴다.
Do you have a cold(감기에 걸렸어요?)
Do you have any pain(어디가 아프세요?
Do you feeel chilly(한기를 느끼세요?)
대답은 물론 Yes I have 호은 No I haven't식으로 하면된다.
★ Catch (get) a cold는 “감기들다/걸리다”를 말하는 상태의 변화를 이야기 하는 것이고,
have a cold는 “감기가 걸려있다”는 상태를 말하는 표현이다.
★ “의사에게 진찰받다”는 뜻의 영어는 See a doctor 이다.
★ make an appointment 는 “예약을 하다” have an appointment 는
"예약을해둔상태“를 의미한다.
★ prescription은 처방전이라는 뜻인데
의사가 처방한 약(medicine which a doctor orders for you) 이라는 뜻도 있다.
그러니까 take this prescription은 “이 처방약을 먹으라”는 뜻이다.
★ 체온을 얘기 할때 우리나라는 “섭씨(Centigrade)”를 사용하지만 외국에서는
“화씨(Fahrenheit)"를사용한다.

★ 병실을 한바퀴 돌아보자 는 Let's make a round of the ward 이다.
★ 중환자는 Intensive care Patient로 가능하지만 문어적인 표현이며,
회화에서 중환자는 Patient who is serious case
혹은 Patient on the danger list 이다.
★ 입원료 : Hospital expenses, 입원수속 : hospital admissionprocedures.
★ 입원환자 : inpatient, 장기입원환자 : long-stay patient.
★ 의료보험 : medical insurance.
의료보험 혜택 : medical insurance benefits.
의료보험 혜택자 : beneficiaries of medical insurance.
의료보험조합 : medical insurance union.
★ 의사를 Doctor 혹은 medical man이라고 하며 속어로 Doc. 이라고 줄여쓰기도 한다.
주로 내과의사를 Physician, 외과의사를 surgeon 이라고 한다.
내과 외과 일반을 담당하는 GP General Practitioner 의 약자이다. |

※ 직급체계
일반사원 : employee.
과장 : section chief(manager)
차장 : vice(assistant) department chief
부장 : department chief(head)
이사 : director
이상은 일반적으로 영어 에서도 그 지위고하에 대해 큰 오해없이 통용될
수 있는 말입니다. 다만 section 이 departmet의 상위냐 하위냐 하는것은 회사마다 정하기
나름입니다.
보통 미국회사 에서는 department의 하위 부서로 team 이나 part를 더 애용합니다.
문제는 대리,상무,전무 인데 이런것은 일반적으로 미국회사의 직급과 일대일로 맞아 떨어지는
명칭이 아닙니다.
다만, 상무,전무는 managing director 나 general manager 정도로 옮길수 있습니다.
만약 과장 명칭을 section chief( manager)로 정했다면 대리는 그보다 아래 이니까
assistant section cheif(manager) 또는 assistant coordinator와같이
정할수 있겠습니다.
우리 나라에서는 사장과 회장의 의미가 다른데 미국에서는 president와 chairman을
혼용하되 어느쪽이 더 높고 낮다는 것은 없습니다.
실제로 미국에서는 직책명칭으로 coordinator,manager,supervisor,director등
지위고하 보다는 기능을 강조하는 말을 많이 씁니다. |

(무엇을) “들다” 를 Hold , take, have ( a thing One's hand)
(무엇을) “들어 올리다 를 표현할때는 raise, lift (up), put up hold up 를 쓴다.
“보호자”는 영어로 a protector 이나 회화상에서 “동행인”으로 물어보는것이 부드럽다.
Are you one of party ( companion )? ( 동행인의 한사람 입니까?)
Are you his companion? ( 당신이 그사람의 동행인 입니까?)
Water's Skull PA등 이마를 talble 에 대어야 하는경우 이마는 “forehead" or "brow"를 사용한다.
IVP 환자의 compressing band를 할 경우 “ draw a belt tight" 표현을 사용하고,
curtain을 칠경우는 ”Pull down (draw,drop,bring down) the curtain" 표현을 사용한다.

We need to "clean out" the bowel.

RT : On the day before your exam, eat a light lunch and dinner such as

Foreigner : Yes That day's much better ( that suits me fine)

Receptionist : Would you make a note of it so, you won't forget?

Foreigner : OK I'll write it down this minute.

Receptionist : Next time, when you need to change your appiontment,
You don't have to come in person.
You can make the new date and time by the phone.

병원에서 쓰는 기본 용어
 심장계통
눌러오는 듯 아프다. The pain feels heavy, crushing
밤에 자다가 숨이 차서 일어난다. I wake up short of breath at night
침대에 드러누우면 숨이 차진다. I get short of breath when I lie down.
조금 힘든 일을 하면 숨이 차진다. I get short of breath on exertion.
어지럽다. I feel dizzy / Light-headed/ giddy/ feel like fainting.
드러누웠다가 갑자기 일어나면 어지러워진다.
I get dizzy when I stand up from lying down.
기절을 했다. I had a syncope/ I lost consciousness.
손, 발이 쥐가 오른 듯 따끔하다. IK have pins and needles in my fingers / toes.
가끔씩 눈앞이 흐려지는 경우가 있다. My arms /legs feel heavy and weak.
팔과 다리에 감각이 없어졌다. I feel numb in my arms and legs.
피곤이 쉽게 온다. I get tired / lethargic easily
피부질환
피부가 가렵다. My skin feels itchy
피부가 건성/지성이다. My skin is dry/ oily
머리가 빠진다. My hair keeps falling out.
피부에 화상을 입었다. I had burns to my skin.
입술이 부르텄다. I have blisters on my lips.
호흡계통
가래가 섞인 기침을 한다. I cough up a flam. I have a productive cough.
피가 섞인 기침을 한다. There I blood in my sputum. I cough up blood.
가슴이 아프다. I have chest pain.
숨을 들이킬 때 더 심하다. The pain is worse on breathing in.
목소리가 쉬었다. My voice is hoarse / croaky.
목이 부었다/ 목이 아프다. I have a sore throat.
소화기 계통
식욕이 없다. I have lost appetite. I don’t feel like eating.
몸무게가 줄었다. I have lost weight.
입맛은 계속 좋은데 살이 자꾸 빠진다. I am losing weight despite good appetite
헛구역질/ 트림을 한다. I burp
입에 신맛을 느낄 수 있다. I have bitter taste in my mouth.
입에 신물이 올라온다. I regurgitate acid.
배가 아프다. I have pain in my stomach/ tummy
소화제를 먹어도 낫지를 않는다. Antacids do not relieve it. Antacids don’t help
배가 더부룩하게 부은 것 같다. My stomach feels bloated/ full
배가 단단하게 만져진다. I can feel a hard lump in my stomach.
몸에 부기가 있다. My body is swollen. I have edema.
황달기가 있다. I have jaundice. My skin/ eyes have turned yellow.
토할 것 같다/ 구토증이 있다. I feel nauseous/ sick/like throwing up.
피를 토했다. I vomited blood. There is blood in my vomit.
단단한 음식/ 음료수를 삼키기가 힘들다. I find it difficult to swallow solid food/liquids.
음식이 목에 걸렸다. The food is stuck in my throat.
설사를 했다. I have diarrhoea.
음식이 체했다. I have indigestion.
변이 묽어 졌다. I have loose/ watery bowel motions
변비가 있다( 변이 단단해 졌다) I am constipated( I have hard bowel motions)
설사와 변비가 번갈아 있다. It alternates between diarrhoea and constipation
치질이 있다. I have haemorrhoids.
혈액계통
멍이 쉽게 든다. I bruise easily
코피를 자주 흘린다. I bleed often from my nose
임파선이 커졌다. My lymph nodes are enlarged.
수혈을 받은 적이 있다. I have received blood transfusions in the past
빈혈을 하고 싶다. I want to give/ donate blood
내 혈액형은 * 형이다. My blood type is
비뇨계통
소변이 자주 마렵다. I wee more often. I pass water/ urinate more often.
소변을 보는데 따갑게 아프다. I have burning pain on urination/ passing water.
생리양이 많아졌다/ 적어졌다. My period is heavier/ lighter (in volume)
생리통이 심하다. I have severe menstrual/ period pain.
생리를 자주 거른다. I skip my periods often.
냉이 있다. I have vaginal discharge.
피임약을 사용하고 있다. I am using a contraceptive device.
피임도구를 사용하고 있다. I am using a contraceptive device.
예전에 성병에 걸린 적이 있다. I had a STD ( Sexually Transmitted Disease ) in the past.
1. 상의를 벗어 주세요.
-> Take off all of your top clothes.
2. 속옷도 벗어 주세요.
-> Take off your underwear, too.
3. 옷을 이 상자 속에 넣어 주세요.
-> Put your clothes in this basket.
4. 이 진찰 옷으로 입어 주세요.
-> Put on this examination wear.
5. 셔츠만 제외하고 웃옷을 벗어주시겠습니까?
-> Could you please take off your upper cloth except shirt?
6. 소매를 걷어 올려주시겠습니까?
-> Would you please roll up your sleeves?
7. 바지를 무릎까지 걷어 올려주시겠습니까?
-> Would you please pull up your trousers to the knee?
8. 안경을 벗어주시겠습니까?
-> Please take off your glasses.
9, 장신구 등도 벗어 주세요.
-> Take off your stockings, watch and jewelry, too.
